International Adoption Process

International adoption is a difficult process. It may demand a lot from whoever pursues it, but it offers fulfilling rewards. If you are interested in adopting a child from other countries, you must meet the following requirements:

physically healthy
mentally healthy, without any record of serious mental disorder
between 21 and 60 years old
emotionally mature
legally married for at least a year, OR single and living independently
a US citizen, OR married to a US citizen
financially stable
living conditions must be conducive to the child’s safety and development
have no criminal records
If you meet the requirements above, then you are qualified to go through the adoption procedures. However, keep in mind International Adoption may require more than these. It calls for patience, understanding, trust, and just the right loving attitude.

Understanding International Adoption
Within the next few months, you must learn everything you have to know about the things involved in the International Adoption procedures. These may include child development, medical matters, the US Citizenship and Immigration process, cross-cultural issues and how to care for a child from a developing nation. You should also spend some time understanding the differences of your child’s homeland in every aspect.

International adoption involves risk as well. The child you will adopt may have a lot of unknown areas. You may never know the physical and psychosocial health issues of your adopted child’s family, nor his ethnic background. In all these, you must be willing to trust us in assisting you with one of the biggest decisions in your life.
